Dhanvantri Library of University of Jammu
The Central Library of the Jammu University was renamed "Dhanvantri Library" by the Syndicate and the University Council. The name was changed to give recognition to the work of Comrade Dhanvantri (1902-1953), who was a freedom fighter of Jammu and Kashmir.
Dhanvantri library is the hub of academic activities where students sit from morning to evening throughout the year. Dhanvantri Library is a four-story building with a stack area of near around 36,000 square feet. Providing reading facilities to almost 500 students at a time, the Library is well-equipped with a photocopy machine, projectors, various interconnected computer terminals, and some other modern technical equipment as well. Dhanvantri library has a collection approximately of 4 lakh volumes, rare as well as the latest, and nearby 250 current periodicals with back numbers. Dhanvantri library also provides access to the different online journals only in the campus. Dhanvantri Library also has a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system.

Working Schedule of Dhanvantri Library:
Working hour is 9.00 am to 5.00 pm and remains closed on Saturdays, Sundays and Gazetted Holidays. The reading rooms remain open 24 hours on all days.
